Careers Profile: Inside the role - Storeroom Assistant
Barb has been part of the Baby Bunting team for more than 10 years and plays an important role behind the scenes, helping ensure products get where they need to be for customers and team members alike. From receiving deliveries and preparing customer orders to supporting Click & Collect, she thoroughly enjoys the variety each day brings.
What does a typical day look like in your role?
My days can be pretty varied. I’m usually receiving deliveries, putting stock away, picking orders, helping with Click & Collect and getting stock ready for customers. There’s also the job of keeping the storeroom organised and making sure stock is where it needs to be. I like having a good mix of things to do rather than doing the exact same thing every day.
What motivates you?
I like keeping busy and getting things done. I also enjoy helping the team out wherever I can. After being here for so long, I like knowing that people can rely on me and that I can use my experience to help things run smoothly.
What do you enjoy most about supporting new or expecting parents?
I like knowing that the work we do behind the scenes helps make things easier for customers. Whether it’s getting an order ready, finding stock or helping someone get what they need, it’s good knowing that we’re helping make their experience a little easier, especially when they’ve already got so much to think about with a new baby.
How would you describe your team and the culture at Baby Bunting?
I’d say we’re pretty good at helping each other out. It can get busy, so being able to work together and communicate is really important. Everyone has different strengths, and I think it’s important to pitch in and help when you can. After more than 10 years with Baby Bunting, I’ve worked with a lot of different people, and I’ve always enjoyed being part of the team.
What would you say to someone considering applying for a role at Baby Bunting?
I’d say give it a go! You need to be willing to work hard and be part of a team, but there’s a lot to learn and plenty of opportunities to get to know different parts of the business. Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you’re new and be willing to pitch in and help where you can. I think having a positive attitude, being reliable and working as part of the team goes a long way.
