Careers Profile: Inside the role - Service Manager

A proud mum of two, Hulya has been part of the Baby Bunting team for nearly four years, bringing a unique blend of experience across engineering, interior design, and ongoing studies in finance. Her genuine passion for supporting families - and doing work she truly enjoys - keeps her feeling fulfilled and balanced. Hulya’s journey with Baby Bunting is also deeply personal. Joining during a challenging postpartum period, she found purpose and connection through supporting other parents, turning everyday interactions into meaningful moments. Today, Hulya is driven by creating welcoming, supportive in-store experiences - helping parents feel confident, understood, and cared for every step of the way.

Tell us about your role at Baby Bunting and what it involves.
As a Service Manager at Baby Bunting, I make sure everything on the shop floor runs smoothly and feels welcoming for every family. I ensure pricing is accurate, promotions are set up correctly, and every customer is acknowledged and supported from the moment they walk in.
I also focus on building my team’s confidence through training with our management team, brand reps and our Baby Bunting learning platform, NEST, so they feel knowledgeable and ready to help. Achieving my KPIs is one of the challenges I enjoy most - I love setting goals and celebrating those wins with the team, creating a motivated and supportive environment for everyone.

What skills, strengths, or qualities are important in your role? Is there any training or support that helped you build these?
Success in my role comes from genuinely caring about people, being patient, and staying calm and supportive - especially with new parents who often need reassurance. It’s also about being organised and making sure both customers and the team feel looked after.
The support from my store manager, who was the assistant manager when I first started, along with ongoing training from brand reps and NEST, has really helped me grow in my role.

What’s something about your role that might surprise people?
What might surprise people is just how emotional this role really is. We’re often meeting parents at overwhelming and vulnerable moments - sometimes excited, sometimes anxious, sometimes just trying to hold it all together. Being able to listen, reassure them and help them feel more confident is something I don’t take lightly.
Behind the scenes, there’s also a strong focus on my team. A big part of my role is supporting them, building their confidence and making sure they feel cared for too - because when they feel supported, they can give that same care back to families. Becoming a Service Manager has honestly been one of the best things I’ve done, both professionally and personally as it’s very rewarding in so many different ways.

Share a special moment in your Baby Bunting journey that made you feel proud or fulfilled.
One moment that really stands out is seeing families come back again - sometimes with their second or third child. We might first meet them when they’re pregnant, and then watch them return with their growing family. It feels very personal and emotional, like we’ve been a small part of their journey over the years.
